Welcome! Many want to know “who we are” and what we are about. We don’t like to talk too much about ourselves, as God’s Words are so much more interesting and important than we are. But for those who ask, we are a small branch of the Church of God – a unique church whose roots go back through time as a group who resisted the many post-apostolic doctrines brought in by the new Roman church. Our forefathers held fast to the original doctrine of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus) and His apostles. To enhance the numbers of adherents, as the words of Christ spread through Greece and into Rome, many old pagan practices and pagan holidays began to be “christianized” by being given new “Christian” sounding names, and re-directing their symbolism from pagan gods to Christ. Many things that were once rites and practices done in honor of various pagan gods, were now being taught as being in honor of Christ. God commands His True people to avoid worshiping Him the way the pagan Gentiles worship their gods (Deut.12:30-32)! Jesus foretold that many false teachers would preach a false gospel in His name, and thereby deceive many (Matt.24:5). Another prevalent new doctrine the Roman church brought was a perversion of grace into license (Jude 4). Even though Jesus said He did not come to destroy the law or prophets (Matt.5:17), many have been taught to believe He, in essence, did just that. Even though Jesus said heaven and earth would pass before even the smallest point would pass from the law (Matt.5:18), false teachers began to teach that Christ had arrogated the need for man to keep God’s Laws very early in the churches history! Even though Jesus said those who keep and teach even the smallest of God’s Statutes, would be called greatest in the Kingdom of God (Matt.5:19), many have been taught to believe that it is somehow evil to teach and keep God’s commandments and Statutes today. So prevalent were these many new pagan holidays, customs and lawless teachings, that soon after the apostolic era, those who continued in the original doctrine of Jesus and His apostles were in a minority, and were thus considered a strange threat to this new religion that was also called Christian. Because of this, our church history has been one of being misunderstood and persecuted. Though the Church of God history is one of being widely scattered, our roots, doctrines and practices can be traced back throughout history, to the original Jerusalem Church of God that Christ and His apostles founded in Acts 2.
Just as Jesus (Yeshua the Messiah) taught His church through Peter (Acts 10:28 ) and later Paul (Gal.2:8), to love and welcome all mankind, so we welcome all peoples. Just as Paul and the apostles taught Christ’s disciples to hold fast to that original doctrine – which was set down in scripture – so we strive to continue to teach and practice (Col.2:7). Therefore you will find us striving to maintain and teach the same doctrine and continue the same practices of the original Jerusalem Church of God – just like Paul taught each of the satellite churches he raised up to do (Acts 16:3-4). This includes the true grace of God, that is not license, the awesome incredible human potential, and the details of God’s plan of salvation as taught through each of God’s Holy Days. All of God’s Sabbaths, found in both the Old and New Testaments, are like a topographical map, pointing to Christ and God’s plan of salvation for all of mankind! That’s how our teachings and practices differ from most churches.
Who are we? We are part of the Church of God , and YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US!
On this site you have found a place to rejoice and learn of God’s true nature of love toward all of His children, those He has already called and those yet to be called. Visit often and join us on a journey through God’s Word that teaches us that ALL of God’s laws were given – including the Ten Commandments, Statutes, Ordinances, Testimonies, Precepts and even His Judgments, IN LOVE and for our GOOD (Deut.6:24 & 1 John 5:1-3)! God gave us the Words of Life through His faithful servants, and our Lord and Savior who died for us as the Lamb of God. (Gen.22:8 & Jn.1:29) They all spoke to us in love as they were moved by the power of the Father’s Holy Spirit (2 Pet.1:21).
We make no claims of preeminence or greatness, or of being better than any church or people. God is the judge and God is Great, as are His Words and promises. We try to keep the focus upon the Most High Father and His eternal Son, Jesus the Messiah, through whom God made all things (John 1:3, Heb.1:2)!
The sign Jesus Christ gave that we are His disciples, is that we learn to show love to one another (Jn.13:35), that as we show true Love toward God and one another, we fulfill God’s laws (Mark. 12:28-34 & Rm.13:8-19). Jesus said He did not come to do away with or change the law (Mt.5:17-19), but He revealed it’s full spiritual meaning to us interlaced with mercy, that previously the law could only point toward (Gal.3:24).
Messiah also revealed to us the Good News of our relationship with our God as a loving Heavenly Father, caring for, teaching and exhorting all His children in patient love and mercy through His laws. (Jn.14:15-21 & Heb.12:5-12) Through His grace, we have hope and a promise of our wonderful future in His soon coming Kingdom (Isa.11:1-10 & John 14:2-3)!
As we strive to fulfill His will for us and become more like Him, we “choose life” eternal (Deut.30:19 & 2 Pet.1:3-11)! We encourage each of you to take an active role in searching out and applying these truths in your life so that you may receive the results of abundant blessings promised by God our Father for so doing (Jm.1:25).
Let’s all learn together how to live what Jesus called the greatest commandment – to love God with all our heart and all our soul (Deut.6:5, Mark 12:30). And the second which is like unto the first – to love our neighbors as ourselves (Lev.19:18, Mark 12:31). The rest of God’s Word is His important instructions on HOW to keep these two greatest commandments of all, and HOW to have eternal life!
"The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace” (Num 6:24-26). NKJV
